Our New Home

“From a Historic Past to a Caring Future”

Our Project Involves:

  • Building a new, state-of-the-art 6,000 - 10,000 sq ft. Adult Day Care and Day Health Rehabilitation Center to better meet the needs of our growing aging population and their family caregivers. Currently BPI provides their exceptional services in only 1,550 sq ft. of space.
  • Reconfiguration and preservation of the historic Zechariah Harwood House built in 1783 and the Harwood Hill Apple Barn built in 1785 as part of BPI's new Adult Day facility.
  • Rehabilitation of one of the oldest apple and pear orchards in Vermont (established in 1774) in partnership with local horticultural programs.

Our Project will result in:

  • A larger and new Home for Bennington Project Independence.
  • Greater numbers of frail individuals and younger adults with disabilities having the opportunity to benefit from expanding our comprehensive Adult Day Care and Day Health Rehabilitation Services.
  • Even more families getting a break from and help for dealing with the demands of caring for an elderly or disabled loved one at home.
  • New life for a neglected historic Bennington property.

Our goal is to make our multi-component venture a true community project.

We need your financial support to help move the project forward!
